2020 Road Championships

If you have not run a road champs race before (or even a race!) why not try it out. Most races are around 10k and well within the ability of club members who train on club nights. When we get a good group going it tends to be a nice social occasion too.

About the championships

There is a male and female championship. In each race the points are awarded based on finishing position relative to other club runners (if it is based on time this will be taken from the gun and not chip time).

The points format is the same as 2019. 25 points are awarded to 1st back, 20 to 2nd, 18 to 3rd and then descending by a point each position down to 1 (all runners will receive a minimum of 1 point i.e. if you were 28th then you will still take away a point). All races count so the more you do the more points you will have.

There is the return of the Huddersfield Park 5k series, this was popular on the 2018 champs and nothing says summer running like a Wednesday evening 5k. If you complete all the races in the series, there is another 10 bonus points available. Plus, you get a free beer with the entry, a lovely way to cool down :)

Please note you must be entered as a club runner under Holmfirth Harriers to be eligible to win points at a race. If we do end up with a tie the winner will be the person with the most points accumulated over the least races (as far as I know there has never been a tie in any club champs!)

I will post race information online and on the board closer to the events. Why not try a race and see how you get on! Any questions, get in touch - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

All the best!
