SWB Castle Hill Challenge Trail Half Marathon and 10K

On Saturday 9 May 2020, Holmfirth Harriers welcomes you to the very first Castle Hill Challenge Trail Half Marathon. You are invited to come and run the very challenging route through the spectacular West Yorkshire countryside and enjoy the stunning views from the top of Castle Hill while visiting the Victoria Tower, a dramatic Victorian memorial to the golden jubilee, twice.

The challenge starts near Honley with climbs alongs variety of paths, tracks and farm access roads to Farnley Tyas before plunging down through the woods below Castle Hill. A further climb on rural paths and open fields takes runners over the Castle Hill site, passing the tower and affording the fantastic views in all directions. Another drop in height and climb in open fields loops the runner back towards Farnley Tyas before repeating the the same anticlockwise loop once more ascending to the tower. The return route follows the same course as the outward course back to Honley. The route is full of surprises, and over a wide variety of trail surfaces.
